Terms and Conditions of Catering Equipment Trade Centre and Best Price Ice Machine: Macharlin PTY LTD

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Installation, Operation and Warranty Requirements for Ice Machines

1. General

These Terms and Conditions apply to the installation, operation, maintenance and warranty of all ice machines supplied by BPIM and/or CETC (“the Supplier”).

By purchasing, installing or operating the equipment, the customer acknowledges and agrees to comply with the requirements outlined below. Failure to comply may result in reduced performance, equipment damage and/or the voiding of the manufacturer’s warranty.

2. Water Filtration Requirements

All ice machine manufacturers recommend the installation of a compatible commercial-grade water filtration system.

A suitable water filter is essential to:

Improve food safety.
Reduce sediment and particulate matter.
Reduce scale formation.
Protect internal components from premature wear.
Maximise equipment performance and service life.

Failure to install and maintain an appropriate filtration system may result in damage that is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

3. Water Quality

The customer is solely responsible for ensuring that the incoming water supply is suitable for the operation of the ice machine.

Natural variations in water quality may significantly affect the performance and longevity of the appliance.

High levels of hardness, dissolved minerals, chlorides or other contaminants may cause:

Scale and mineral build-up.
Corrosion and rusting of internal components.
Reduced ice production.
Reduced operating efficiency.
Premature failure of components.
Complete equipment failure.

The Supplier strongly recommends that the customer obtain professional water quality testing and advice from a qualified water treatment specialist before connecting the appliance.

4. Limitation of Water Filter Performance

Water filters supplied by BPIM or CETC are intended primarily for the removal of sediment, dirt and particulate matter.

Unless expressly stated by the filter manufacturer, these filters are not designed or warranted to remove:

Heavy metals;
Excessive dissolved salts;
Chlorides;
Minerals;
Chemical contaminants; or
Other substances that may damage the appliance over time.

Where local water conditions require specialised treatment, it is the customer’s responsibility to engage a qualified water treatment technician to install an appropriate filtration or water treatment system.

Damage arising from unsuitable water quality is not covered by warranty.

5. Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for ensuring the following requirements are met prior to installation:

Installation completed strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s installation manual.
Water pressure complies with the manufacturer’s specified operating range.
Clean, potable and adequately filtered water supply.
Electrical supply meeting the manufacturer’s specifications.
Suitable drainage, including installation of a drain pump where required.
Adequate ventilation around the appliance.
Minimum clearance of 150 mm on all sides, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.
Installation in an environment suitable for the heat load generated by the appliance.
Ongoing servicing and maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.

Failure to meet these requirements may void the manufacturer’s warranty.

6. Water Filter Installation

Prior to connecting the ice machine, the water filter must be correctly commissioned.

The installer must:

Flush the filter cartridge at full water pressure for a minimum of five (5) minutes into a suitable drain or bucket.
Install the cartridge in accordance with the manufacturer’s flow direction.
Install the filter vertically with the cartridge hanging downward.
Maintain a minimum clearance of 65 mm (2.5 inches) beneath the cartridge for servicing.
Follow all installation instructions supplied with the filter.

Failure to activate and install the filter correctly may affect equipment performance and warranty.

7. Cleaning and Preventative Maintenance

Routine maintenance is essential for the safe and efficient operation of the ice machine.

Unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer:

The ice machine should be cleaned and sanitised every three (3) months.
Approved ice machine cleaner and sanitiser must be used.
The condenser must be cleaned regularly in accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.
General servicing and maintenance remain the responsibility of the customer.

Failure to perform routine maintenance may result in equipment damage and may void the manufacturer’s warranty.

8. Installation Location

The selected installation location must satisfy all manufacturer requirements.

The installation site must:

Be clean and free from airborne contaminants.
Be protected from weather.
Be protected from direct sunlight.
Be located away from ovens, grills and other heat-producing appliances.
Provide unrestricted airflow around the appliance.
Maintain the manufacturer’s required operating temperature.

For self-contained ice machines:

Ambient temperature must not fall below 1.6°C.
Ambient temperature must not exceed 43.4°C, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer.

For remote condenser units:

Ambient temperature must be between -29°C and 49°C.

Failure to comply may significantly reduce equipment performance.

9. Installation Inside Cupboards or Cabinetry

Commercial ice machines are generally not designed for installation inside enclosed cupboards or cabinetry.

Where installation inside cabinetry is proposed, the customer accepts full responsibility for ensuring compliance with all manufacturer ventilation requirements.

The following conditions must be met:

Minimum clearance of 150 mm on all sides.
Unrestricted airflow to the front of the machine.
Adequate ventilation openings, grilles or louvres.
Cupboard must not be airtight or sealed.
Heat generated by the appliance must be able to escape.

Insufficient ventilation may result in:

Reduced ice production.
Extended operating cycles.
Increased electricity consumption.
Condenser overheating.
Compressor overheating.
Premature compressor failure.
Permanent equipment damage.

These conditions are considered installation-related issues and are not covered under warranty.

10. Ice Production Performance

Ice machines are engineered to harvest ice within specified operating times.

Where excessive ambient temperatures or inadequate ventilation exist, the machine may:

Harvest ice before cubes are fully formed.
Produce smaller or softer ice cubes.
Produce wet ice.
Experience reduced production capacity.
Cause ice to melt more rapidly in beverages.

These conditions are generally the result of environmental or installation factors rather than equipment defects.

11. Additional Installation Requirements

The installer must also ensure:

Installation is carried out by a licensed and qualified plumber.
Water filter is clean and unrestricted.
Water supply is continuous.
Electrical supply complies with local regulations.
Drainage is correctly connected.
Condenser airflow remains unobstructed.
The appliance is not connected to multi-outlet power boards or extension leads.
Room ventilation or air conditioning is adequate where high ambient temperatures or humidity exist.

12. Warranty Exclusions

Without limiting any manufacturer’s warranty terms, warranty claims may be refused where damage or failure has resulted from:

Failure to install an approved water filtration system.
Unsuitable water quality.
Incorrect water pressure.
Failure to flush or commission the water filter.
Incorrect installation.
Installation inside inadequately ventilated cabinetry.
Failure to maintain required clearances.
Blocked condenser.
Lack of routine cleaning or sanitisation.
Scale build-up.
Corrosion caused by chlorides or other contaminants.
Failure to follow the manufacturer’s installation or operating instructions.

Any repair required due to the above circumstances shall be treated as a non-warranty service and may incur labour, travel and replacement part charges.

13. Customer Acknowledgement

By proceeding with the installation and operation of the equipment, the customer acknowledges that they have read and understood these Terms and Conditions and accepts responsibility for ensuring the appliance is installed, operated and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements.

Failure to comply with these requirements may result in reduced performance, equipment failure and the loss of warranty coverage.

Returned goods remain the customer’s responsibility until received and accepted by the Company or supplier.
